VDSL Line Bonding Gateways?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I am investigating the possibility of obtaining a VDSL2 gateway/router, that has Line Bondiong capabilities (ability to bond 2 pairs and increase bandwidth by 30-40%).

Our network here in Gibraltar is running on a short haul copper infrastructure not fibre, in case you're wondering why the need to bond lines.

I cannot find a gateway vendor within EU that does this, however there is a market for line bonding in the US, but i've been told we cannot be sold gateways made for the US market here in the EU.

Anyone have any comments or ideas/advice on the matter.

Many thanks

Dwayne

Does this have to be a VDSL bonding device?

Doesn't Gibtel supply a modem with each line which could be used with an Ethernet device like a Firebrick?

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, yes we do need it to be a VDSL2 Bonding capable CPE. The problem is that such devices are not available (or so it seems) to the EU market.

Hopefully someone can point something out.

thanks

two VDSL2+ modems and a firebrick or mikrotik would do the job.

I would go for the 2 modems plugged into a FireBrick FB2700 and do the line binding that way.

I don't think there is a product out that has multi dsl inputs and line bonds.

They are not 750 quid, and who said line bonding is cheap anyway?

There is no market for such products and you pay through your teeth for them.

If you can find a cheaper solution by all means please enlighten us...

Well they are according to the price list. I don't know where you're getting your info from but how much do you think they are?

The Comtrend Nexuslink 5631 is £150

That is an ADSL bonding router.

The op is asking for a VDSL2 bonding router.
