xbox 360

[link to this post]

I have a BT2700HGV 2 WIRE and have been trying to set up my windows media centre. ( windows 7 )
Typed in my extender No but failed to connect. I have been told that it is not possible to do this with this Router. Unless someone out there knows different,
Worked ok with my old Netgear, which is now deceased!

Hi, the Xbox 360 can be connected to the 2Wire 2700HGV wireless router. Ignore the switch in diagram.

Thanks all working now.
Question for you, when BT lay fibre to us I take it I will have to get a new Router, hopefully a 2 wire business hub that I can hack.

Thanks

Bap

Think you get the Infinity Hub 2, if you take the BT version of FTTC.

Hi bap1ow, it seems when we have (FTTC) Fibre To The Cabinet, we will be connected to a VDSL2 modem supplied by BT Openreach and a router supplied by your ISP.

I think only BT provide an included router at the moment.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

Even for business FTTC connections BT do not provide the 2wire hub! There are separate modems and routers - you can replace teh router if you wish but not the modem. If you want a 2wire - easiest way is ebay.

Hi bap1ow, found more info on the BT Business fibre Hub/RouterÖ

Fibre Hub
Your Fibre Hub is a broadband router that can connect computers to the internet
using wired or wireless connections. It has been designed especially for the
BT Business Total Broadband Fibre service.
The BT engineer will set up your Fibre Hub when installing BT Business Total
Broadband Fibre. Your new Fibre Hub will replace your old BT Business Hub,
if you have one. (You may want to keep your old Hub or router safe in case you
move back to standard broadband.)
Your Fibre Hub can share the broadband service across separate computers and
devices (e.g. printers) and BT services such as BT Business Broadband Voice and
BT Office Anywhere.

Why should I only use the new Fibre Hub and Openreach modem?
Most broadband equipment can only work with standard broadband (ADSL),
but your Openreach modem uses different technology (VDSL) to give you faster
broadband speeds.
The Openreach modem (which is part of the Openreach network) must be
connected using a router thatís compatible with Ethernet WAN Ė the BT Business
Total Broadband Fibre Hub fits this requirement.
