DG834 scheduled wake on lan

[link to this post]

We're using a Netgear DG834 v4 with the latest DGTeam firmware, and I was wondering if there is a way to get it to do a scheduled wake-on-lan. Could the Custom Cron table event script execution do it? If so could anyone give me any pointers to how to do it or to any existing scripts? If not, might there be any other way to do it?

thanks

Does the DGTeam firmware contain a wake on lan command (perhaps named wol). My standard firmware DG834G doesn't (as far as I can tell).

If it does have a look at the crontab (/tmp/etc/crontab) to check the command format.

You could try something like

cat >>/tmp/etc/crontab
30 1 * * * root /usr/bin/wol mac-address
ctrl-d

which would append an entry to the current crontab (run wol at 1:30 every day).

This may help you find the correct wol command.

To schedule a reboot at 8:57am:
57 8 * * * root /sbin/reboot

1st item is minutes
2nd item is hour
3rd item IIRC is day of week (1 to 7)
not sure of 4 and 5 items, may be month and year.
* is wild card.

The dgteam shows the following site in their credits, this may show the "wakelan" command format.

Thanks for that. Yes the DGTeam firmware gives wake-on-lan and also a facility for editing the crontab.
