Is the Billion BiPac 7800N IPv6-ready?

[link to this post]

Is it?

Am thinking of getting one quite soon and have been scouring the PDF manual of it but there's no mention of IPv4 or IPv6 in it.

'Sponge',

Many thanks for that.

Yes, it looks like the L version is the one to get. It's 'dual-stack'.

Availability, as yet, is a problem. I think Billion's still trying to sort out some new firmware for it, providing the IPv6.

Apparently Billion in Australia have released a firmware upgrade 1.06b-6, which includes IPv6 support. However Billion UK have stated 'We do not recommend you to download firmware from the Australian Billion site, and we only support firmware released or sent out by our UK office". So it would probably be at your own risk if you tried using it.

I'm using the latest Aussie firmware on my 7800N which enables ipv6 and I can confirm it works beautifully smile

"Risk"? Please stop fear-mongering.

I am amused that people still believe that manufacturers will offer any form of meaningful warranty on their retail-level products.

Have you actually tried to make a warranty claim on anything like a domestic router? It's cheaper to throw it in the bin and write off the hundred quid as "experience gained".

If the firmware bricks the router, there is at least a hope of rolling-back oneself. That's better odds than getting it replaced if it explodes in normal use.

It's good to hear that you were successful !

Almost makes me wish I had the 7800N, instead of the basic 7800,
as I don't think that my router would accept the 1.06b-6 firmware.

Netgear will replace routers up to 2 years old. I have the 3rd replacemnt for my DGN2000.
