Replacing DG834GT with BTHomeHub 2

[link to this post]

My Netgear Router appears to have failed. No lights, not even a power light. I have an old BTHomeHub 2 after a disastrous period with BTInternet and no money. Could I use the Home Hub to connect to my Orange ISP. I have tried and the Hub Manager implies that the Orange username is not supported by the hub.

Any suggestions as to how I can get the router to work with Orange.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Don't think the HH2 can be unlocked away from BT to work with other ISPs' connections.
Some PN and maaf customers have found the HH2 will work straight out the box on some of their connections (BT owns Plusnet and bought maaf/part of Brightview)

EDIT
So it looks like you'll need to get another router for Orange.

Thanks for the reply Apprentice. I was afraid that might be the case. Do you have any recommendations for a good (cheap) replacement wireless router. The NetGear has been very good and lasted a good few years but I am not sure what to go for now.

Some suggestions here, I'm still using a DG834GT with DGTeam firmware ....... that combination is fine for me.

You can get a new DG834GT on eBay for under £20 and a Sky-locked one, which is unlockable, for even less.

Actually the HH2 can be hacked to work with any ISP, its a software based mod that does not require a JTAG flash but it is quite long winded and you will need to know what verson of the HH2 you have (Type A or B).
