Draytek 2800G - ADSL2+ compatibility

[link to this post]

Hi all,

My father has just signed up for ADSL2+ from XILO via TalkTalk LLU and he is currently running a Dratek Vigor 2800G on his current ADSL1 line.

Will the 2800G cope with ADSL2+ ok or should he upgrade his router?

There are known issues with that make of router with BE Unlimited, see: http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor_inp.html

As far as I know, TalkTalk LLU should be fine. There are newer makes of modem now with better chip sets, so he may get a slightly faster sync with a newer router/modem. Depends if that's worth the money investigating. I would wait and see how the 2800 performs first.

Now on <aaisp.net> (21CN+IPv6)
Previous ISPs: Virgin Media (50Mb/Cable), Be* Un Limited, ZeN

I'll check what firmware its running but i think it will be the latest one available, although i think that was from 2008 anyway so not new.
