Billion BiPAC 7800N

I'm considering one of these units.

Anyone have any experience with them, good or bad?

Cheers

Yes, it's a damn good router, albeit probably one of the ugliest on the market. I've had mine rather more than a year and have no complaints at all, it's the best router I've ever had (out of assorted LinkSys, Netgear, 2Wire and 3Com).

There is a "but"- I'm on fibre, so I can't comment on the modem part of it.

It's probably one of the best ADS2L+ routers.

Excellent, thanks. I'm not bothered by ugly as it'll be living in my office. smile

I should add I'm interested in this as I'll want to use it when FTTC finally arrives, so good to know it works well with fibre

I have one on and it is excellent.

I has an excellent reputation for use on long lines. It can adjust the SRN target without needing to get it changed by the ISP (and many ISPs won't do this).

Replaced a Drayteh 2820 - every bit as good except that it doesnt as many statistics in the web interface.

The four gigabit ports are great!

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload,
Moved house, now BE Unlimited 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
FTTC Cab installation commenced 12th April - expect full 80 / 20 - bye bye BE, hello BT Infinity soon!

Yeah, I've read a few reviews (definitely the minority) that say this, which is a bit of a worry, thanks.

I have had no issues at all with wireless - currently got a 300Mb/s connection on my laptop but I am fortunate that there are only two other networks in range.

It doesnt have multiple SSIDs (another feature the Draytek 2820 has) but I only used that "because I could" - it wasnt adding value.

Plan on using it with FTTC and using the Draytek as a repeater.

It's worth searching TBB for previous Billion 7800N threads - there are quite a few and often have helpful comments in smile
