[link to this post]

Morning all, I'm searching for the correct router settings for my ISP but can't seem to get them. Could anyone pleased advive on the correct way to setup my router, these are the current settings I'm not sure about :
ISP is Orange

Encapsulation - PPPoA or PPPoE
Multiplexing Method - It's on LLC-Based at the minute
DSL - Auto
MTU Size - 1458

Any advice about this router would be great, thank you

Kev

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

PPPoA
VC-Max
VPI/VCI 0/38
DSL Auto is fine

Does the auto detect side of the interface not work, as all you should need then is your username and password

Thanks for the reply, the setup wizard wasn't working so I was trying to find the correct settings. I will change these settings now. Is there anything else i should adjust on the router?

For security purposes, the logon details and the wireless passphrase should be changed.

For Orange the router MTU, set it to 1500 if it will work, if not then 1492

WAN Setup
Select Advanced > WAN Setup
to display the following screen:

MTU Size(inbytes) 1500

The thing is a seem to be getting weird stats when I try different DSL mode, I got a faster speed on ADSL than on ADSL2+
Is there a best setting for this stats(This is it on ADSL)

Connection speed - up - 3904 / Down - 800
LA - up - 54 / down - 31.5
noise margain up - 12.4 / down - 7.00

Thanks

I think this can happen on longer lines. Have you tried forcing ADSL2 rather than ADSL2+ ?

You have certainly got the 1st 2 back-to-front. Please copy and paste what you see rather than try to interpret them.

On a Down attenuation of 54dB you will get faster speed on ADSL2, or even ADSL(G.DMT), than ADSL2+.
