Indeed. BT could have locked it as an ADSL modem as well as a VDSL2 modem but they chose not to. Thanks to people like Asbokid and now ian007jen, we can use the device to it's full potential.

These sort of antics really do wind me up. Let's inconvenience customers waste perfectly good hardware eh on [censored] locked down firmware.

ISP routers/modems - hate them with a passion.
