ADSL Router

[link to this post]

Hi all,
Been a long time since I was on ADSL but am looking to downgrade for a while as I'm not using the line much. Currently on BT Infinity but looking to move potentially to Uno, AAISP or Pulse8 on ADSL. The SmartHub 6 I have isn't going to work for any of those so wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for a router - preferably something cheap but ok for ADSL as don't want to lose any savings from switching from FTTC.

Any thoughts?

ZyXEL VMG1312 B10D?
From A&A's web site:
The ZyXEL VMG1312 (VMG1312-B10D) is an all-in-one ADSL/VDSL router with WiFi and 4 network ports. AAISP started supplying these in July 2017, these are now the default router.

Basic Specs:

4x 10/100M ports.
Modem supports VDSL (FTTC) and ADSL/ADSL2.
WiFi is 2.4GHz, 802.11 b/g/n
Broadcom 63381 chipset
MTU 1500 when in bridge mode not possible yet, but we are working with ZyXEL on this. (2017-11)

I think that A&A supply it at around half price (~£25) if ordered with your broadband service. I don't know how well it works with ADSL, but is fine for VDSL, other than not doing baby jumbo frames in bridge mode. No idea how good its WiFi is.

I use an ebay Zyxel VMG8924-B10A bought for less than £25. Works on ADSL and VDSL.

If you move o pulse8. Suggest 8800nl r2. They put me on snr of 12, citing upload problems. Stab le at 5 for last month using snr tweak.Normal snr is 9.

I used to have an 8800 but don't think I have any more.

Thanks all for options so far. Unless BT send me the price rise email then I have a few weeks still to consider my options as still in contract until middle of August - but once the contract is done I will be switching to a monthly ADSL for this line.

I was on ADSL before moving to FTTC and was getting about 12/1 so good enough for what I need.

My best suggestion would be a
bt homehub 5a unlocked with lede firmware

https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEDE-OpenWRT-BT-Home-Hub-5-...

You can pick them up for £25 unlocked and also use them for mesh networking to improve coverage in weak spots around the house.

On which router? If you mean the smart hub 6 I mentioned in my post then it has been working just fine and WiFi has full coverage of my house, if it is one of the other routers someone else mentioned are you able to say which has issues?

if you are thinking of a new router then the Billion AC1600 Dual Band Wireless VDSL/ADSL2+ Gigabit Modem Router is top notch for most houses up to 4 bedroom
