5Ghz Wifi Channels

[link to this post]

I wonder if someone can help.

Is there a WAP that has the upper band A, ie channels, on the 5 Ghz frequencies also available to select.

https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/the-5ghz-wi...

I have a Netgear dual band WAP and on the 5Ghz frequency, the only channels available are 36-48.

I wanted to find out which WAP in addition to 36-48 also has channels 52-64.

Many thanks for any info provided.

Cheers

You need one that supports DFS - I can select 52-64 and also 100+ on my Asus RT-AC68U which is running in AP mode. More info on DFS here:

As a separate point DFS continuous monitoring can make the performance worse than using a non-DFS channel.

I notice when I use a DFS channel, things such as whatsapp take a while on "connecting..." This has been the case with a couple of BT access points and a TalkTalk device.

Also, it can be frustrating when the AP drops the channel and switches over.
