Which LLU am I on?

[link to this post]

I'm on MRHUL exchange; there are eight LLU operators there.

I'm quite happy with my service but, purely out of curiosity, how can I tell which LLU I'm on?

Hi Tony,

To be honest, the best way to check your local LLU providers is to use that same SamKnows link smile

Any questions, please shout.

Andy

A TBB speedtest will tell you.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU BB => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU BB

Andy

I'm confused - I think.

SamKnows tells me there are 8 LLU operators on my exchange: AOL, O2/Be, C&W/Bulldog, Orange, Sky/Easynet, TalkTalk (CPW), Tiscali, Tiscali TV.

I don't think it can tell me which of those I'm actually using for broadband (my voice line is with BT). As I understand it Eclipse uses one of the LLU operators to carry the traffic for Eclipse's customers. All I'm asking, merely out of curiosity and with no other motive, is "Which LLU operator?".

A TBB speedtest tells me which ISP I'm with, Eclipse. It doesn't tell me which LLU operator is carrying my Eclipse broadband traffic.

Ah! OK, I thoight it would in the case of a reseller.

How about "What's My IP" and seeing who owns the domain? Or does Eclipse do their own? Suppose that's much the same.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU BB => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU BB

I didn't think Eclipse were a reseller, I'd guess they buy 'wholesale' from an LLU operator in the same way that they and others buy wholesale from BTW for BT carried traffic. I'm pretty sure Eclipse run all their own services rather than resell others.
