What spam scanner do Eclipse use?

[link to this post]

I use Eclipse ISP email and occasionally get an email saying that a anti-spam / anti-virus scanner has detected a spam email or one containing a virus. The email purports to come from a GMX scanner. I'm wondering if this is from the Eclipse system, if not what the Eclipse email scanner is.

Anyone know?

Well, if you look in your e-mail headers [you may have to look at the message source to get the full headers] you should see something like this:-
Received: from earth.karoo.kcom.com (earth.karoo.kcom.com [212.50.160.55])
by mxa02css.ch.as12513.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id D31727ADb4

X-IronPort-AV: E=Sophos;i="4.73,517,1325462400";
d="scan'208";a="1313346628"

So I guess they are using a Cisco Ironport with
Cisco IronPort Antispam
Cisco IronPort Virus Defense
Sophos Anti-Virus

Good thinking Sir.

I also see in the headers
Received: from mx0.gmx.com ([74.208.5.90])
by venus.eclipse.kcom.com with SMTP; 15 Jun 2012 16:04:41 +0100
also
Delivered-To: GMX delivery to <my visible email address>
My visible and easily remembered email address is redirected to my ISP email by another system, and I see this system says
All incoming and outgoing e-mails including their file attachments are automatically scanned for viruses using Symantec's superior and powerful anti-virus scan engine
so I'm guessing Symantec is somehow related to GMX.

Not really related, it is just that the e-mail service provider [GMX, Global Mail Exchange] have decided to use Symantec's anti-malware software.
By the way in case anyone hasn't realised, the headers are in reverse order so as you read down them you are tracing the message path back form your mail server to the mail server of the sender
