TVCatchup?

[link to this post]

Anyone any ideas why Entanet would have "refused or ignored" a peering request from this mob?

"The majority of UK ISPs have already taken the time to enable this connection, but there are a small minority that have either refused or ignored our requests to do so."

See http://www.tvcatchup.com/isps/

I am with Entanet via ADSL24 and can use TVCatchup with no problems so maybe it's a temporary issue?

Strange - if I try to register I get:

"Sorry ENTANET Customers ...
Your ISP (ENTANET) does not currently support TVCatchup.

In order for you to use the TVCatchup site for free, your ISP must have a free peering connection with us."

It works on Enta but does not allow you to register on Enta. E.g. if you register at work or at a mates house you can then use it on your own Enta connection - it will let you log in, but not register. This is because TVCatchup do not have direct peering with Enta so eventually it won't work on Enta unless they both agree on something as at present it will be costing them both a fortune in bandwidth, whereas having a direct peer will not (apart from end users bandwidth etc)

Register using this in browser proxy. Just enter the URL ( http://www.tvcatchup.com ) into the page and go through registration. Once registered just log in using your normal (non-proxy) browser window.

Seems it lets you watch with an Enta connection but not register.

Thanks - a useful tip there.

I still wonder why Enta haven't agreed to the peering though - maybe they just haven't got round to it with all the changes going on, or perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye.

Entanet (like many larger networks) have a peering policy that the requester must meet - http://www.as8468.net/policy.php before peering is established

Ah, that explains it then as if I remember correctly I did register when at work.
