Customer web services were restored shortly before 15:00 hours.
Usenet service was restored at 15:45
The problem was caused by a complete power failure at Telecity's data centre where we have our main servers. Telecity have UPS and generator systems in place to cover this kind of thing but both the UPS and generator platforms failed to start resulting in a complete power loss. They have not explained how this happened as yet - no maintenance was scheduled so this was not an "at risk" time.
