IP Profile gone down to 2mbps

[link to this post]

Two days ago my net connection just stopped, I was waiting a few minutes for it to come back on, so I turned the router off and on again, about 6 or 7 minutes later it worked again, but much slower. Upon checking my IP profile with BT it has gone from 5.5mbps to 2mbps. Something similar has happened before and it normally shot back up to 5.5mbps fairly soon. As it has been 2 to 3 days though and still the same, I am wondering if it is stuck this time ?

I did get an email from Enta about a week ago saying there may be downtime soon due my line changing from ADSL Max to ADSL2+. I have not asked for an upgrade yet, but I think this is what happened with my exchange and line, as Samknows now says my line has the option of 21C or something where-as it had a date of 31st December a week or so ago.

So is that likely to be a coincidence ? How do I get my profile raised again ? I am concerned also it could be due to the floods, out in the sticks here the exchange boxes could easily get wet and flooded.

I should give Enta support a call. Arm yourself with old and current connection and data speeds.

As philippercival says, except I would first try turning off the router for ten minutes, then on again, and do the BT speed test to check the IP profile a few minutes later. (The throughput may not rise immediately even if the IP Profile does, assuming Enta still use an internal copy of it. That copy can take a few hours to update, but the BT version these days on ADSL2+ is instant).

The first and last of your two links are the ones to give them if the profile stays stuck at 2Mbps.

The penultimate one is more useful than the first; it shows full stats.
