Cab not being converted

[link to this post]

Hi

I was wondering if anyone knows who I can moan to about my cab that feeds my property is not being included in the rollout of FTTC in Mickleover, Derby (I have spoken to someone who knows which cabs are being done)

It's on a new large housing estate about 1Km away from the exchange and just off the main road (Straight line to exchange and will be the same duct run) and the nearest cab of the same road is being converted as I type so there is no problem with getting a fibre in. I have also spoke to the site developers and they are not stopping Openreach/BT from installing anything

This is very annoying as the exchange does not even have WBC yet and I was looking forward to faster downloads!!

If you want to know more just ask, thanks wink

You can't moan to anyone about it tongue in time they may expand but for now its just the PCPs that are live giving the service. Is the another cab nearby thats live? could be possible to move cabs

Yes cabs 1-29 are being done and I'm on cab 31. Cab 5 is near but would be too far for cable runs

At only 1KM from the exchange (which has Be/O2 LLU) you should be getting (or be able to get) pretty decent speeds on ADSL2+.. Who is your current provider?

Well like the other poster said, ADSL2+ is your next bet. 1K is a good figure to work with. expect 16mbps or more

A&A. I know I could go over to BE via them but I don't want to unless forced.

I think its a poor show that a large housing development is being denied the latest technology (Especially some of the BIG houses that are around me where this will be ideal)

There is over 400 new homes that will not get this service, yet every other house around the new estate will frown

Be offers Annex M which can give upto 2.5mbps upload. Have a look at their Pro packages.

As I said I know BE is an option - but longer contracts and still I am thinking of the good of all users on the site not just me!

Thanks any way. I was hoping that someone with experience of this issue would have posted.

You can get 3 month contracts with Be* or use a reseller like ADSL24.

Sorry I cannot help you.
