Not supplied from nearest FTTC cabinet

[link to this post]

My exchange is Calder Valley and it was FTTC enabled and ready for service last year. My nearest cabinet is about 400metres away from my house but B T Infinity constantly say 'service not available'. After about 30 phone calls and numerous letters I have discovered that my line (and most of my neighbours lines) is connected to a cabinet over 2 kilometres away. The underground cable actually passes within a metre of the cabinet 400 metres away, on its way to the pole serving my home. B T say they are unable to switch lines between cabinets. Does anybody know if it is possible to have a line transferred from a distant cabinet to a nearer one, as opposed to B T being just not willing to do it?
Any advice would be welcome.

It is possible to change cabinets, but it will be a case of 'money talks'. Openreach have little incentive to move you over to another cab just so you can get FTTC because they'll already be getting money indirectly from you through your service providers.

And it will not be cheap. They would need to either intercept the cable - which would mean digging and then creating a junction - probably in another cabinet and then linking through or running another set of cables which would need to be dug in.

You will be looking at £1000s ...

Given that his pole is already fed from a specific cabinet then it is unlikely.
