Date has changed for availability@

[link to this post]

I checked the Infinity Site and it now says available from 23rd Feb!!

So hopefully by next Wednesday I will be able to order it!

Or should I wait to see what Plus net (current provider) offers?

Don't wait - contact them now to see what they will offer you.

PlusNet are currently in a 2nd phase of their FTTC trial.

That currently means, to get FTTC, you need to pay £12pm on top of their standard charge - which depends on the package & the market# of your exchange. You will be subject to the standard traffic management of the package, and the standard usage allowance.

Standard package prices (without FTTC) are:
- "Value" has a 10GB usage, and costs £6.50 - £13pm
- "Extra" has a 60GB usage, and costs £11.50 - £18pm
- "Pro" has a 20GB usage, and costs £16.50 - £23pm

They haven't yet announced their *real* FTTC packages. Evidence suggests they will come out in April.

not a great deal but we are using iPlayer, Sky player and ITV player more these days than before. Im Still on the unlimited package they had a couple of years back.

This is my total usagde for the last three months:

Billing Period Peak usage Off-peak usage Total usage
27 Oct - 26 Nov 34.53GB 5.09GB 39.62GB
27 Nov - 26 Dec 15.76GB 125.85MB 15.89GB
27 Dec - 26 Jan 32.37GB 3.17GB 35.54GB

That does look a bit like Infinity would be the best option - 300GB FUP.

I'm a light user so the cheapest IDNet FTTC got me smile. Xilo and xilo/uno do good packages as well, though you won't find the xilo one on the website yet.

Called Plusnet and they only have the trial FTTC/FTTP. And given that there is no support for this during the trial and if it goes down it may be down for days, I think I am swayed more towards Infinity than the trial.

Anyone know how long the Plus Net trial might run for?

It's not a case of *no* support, but it will depend on how well the internal roll-out is going within PN's support teams. Certainly they *are* working on it.

PN haven't specifically said that they will roll out FTTC in April, but there have been clues in statements made that relate to when existing triallists must make their package decisions by. Another post (on the page linked by the poster above) suggests the beta trial will be over by the 31st March too.

Right now, I think its better to think of it as "pre-live" rather than a trial.

But note that the FTTP stuff *is* still a trial.
