Fibre Cabinet Style

[link to this post]

On the way home tonight finally saw the new FTTC cabinet in situ. The only thing is it doesn't look like the existing ones with the vents. It looks more like an existing old style cabinet just thicker and marginally taller with no vents.

Can anyone confirm that the new cabinets are a different style?

If needs be I will post a pic tomorrow in daylight.

This is the usual FTTC cabinet. They may have used something different/smaller in limited numbers

No thats not it. It would be thicker and not as tall and without vents to the front anyway (never got out to look)

Is this an additional cabinet or a replacement of the existing cabinet?
This is a smaller cabinet

Thats the cabinet. This is the cabinet that I have been waiting to be installed since last August. Its tracked to the exixting copper cabinet. They maybe dont expect a large take up. Where it is sited as you can get VM in the area but I am outside that scope and have been waiting on faster speeds for years

Hi, Just drove past this tonight and its the same one.

Are there any reasons for this style?

Does it have the same amount of potential connections or there fewer?

Thanks in advance

Nutty

Believe it can accommodate just under half the connections of the full size cabinet , 128 vs 288

Thanks. Obviously BT dont envisage too many people taking the fibre up as they are in a heavyily used VM area. I need to keep an eye on it so I can get my order in sharp so James (ADSL24) can push it through as the checker gives me very very low speeds at 1.1 miles away.

Thanks again.

The "new" smaller one might be a replacement for the "old" copper one. In my area they replaced a lot of the older cabinets with larger ones and then stuck the new fibre ones a few metres away. This is a new fibre one for example installed in my area - similar/identical to the one someone else posted up the thread a bit.
