Today's the Day For The FTTC Installation

[link to this post]

Today is the big day for the FTTC installation from 1pm keeping my fingers crossed that they turn up.

Preparations I have made.

Biscuits bought and stored in the tin.

Fresh Coffee/Tea Ready to be brewed and poured.

New Buffalo Router WHR-G300NV2-EU unpacked and ready to go ( Dam that thing is so tiny )

Moved furniture so Engineer can move the faceplate to next to the PC.

Tried to keep my excitement in check Working slightly at the moment smile

Clock watching

Hope it goes ok..

It's so strange I remember when I was waiting for my install nearly a year a go now.. eeek (Time flies) and I was the same. It's almost like being a child again waiting for Christmas.

It wears off of course .. well just becomes the norm I guess smile

It also becomes hard when Im at my parents who have 20Mb connection with Virgin and it just seems so slow. smile

Sounds like you have covered all the bases. Is your main phone socket in the correct location of where you want the router and modem to be? Mine was in the hall way, so I anticipated where my data extension kit should be routed and prepared some trunking or conduit accordingly.

Nope socket is in the hallway, but I am hoping the Engineer will move it to a a spot next to the PC in my lounge. Pointless having the Modem in the hall.

Update BT just called can they come a bit earlier than planned ? About 10:30 Hmm no brainer Yessssss

HA HA

The wait continues.

It seems like only yesterday when I was living in Hamburg, Germany and was a then member of the underground group the CCH Computer Chaos Club.

We were all using 300 BPS modems and then it went up to a blistering 1200 BPS and they cost an arm and a leg back then to chat to each other on our bulletin boards. How far we have come already since those days. Kids would never believe it if I told them that was what we had to use back then and then later for the internet too. How excited were we with the prospect of a 56K Modem ???? OMG

HA HA
