Cabinet location

[link to this post]

Is it possible to determine the location of a cabinet for my phone line ?
The latest info I've seen is that my postcode was not in the list of postcodes to be converted to support fttc
I was just wondering how I find out where this is (so I can have a look at it)
and also - what factors are used to decide between fttc and fttp (I live in a block of flats)

Thanks

Not sure as to the answer to your question, however, I was surprised when I found out my cabinet was not the one across the street (20 metres away) but down the road, three streets across. Very odd!

I was poking around in google maps for all the postcodes in the spreadsheet I saw.
Many buildings around the area are being converted, just not the road I'm down.
It's interesting to see what postcodes are where - it must be the age of the building
A lot of have been built round here more recently, but are getting FTTC frown
Trying to work out why I am missing out !

No, it just has too many rows to open in old versions of excel.
You can get round it.

My AV scanned it and didn't get upset.

Eh no, it's just a compatibility issue with older spreadsheet programs. Like I'd try and introduce malware on an internet forum frown

They can be in odd places. I finally found my mate's thanks to the spreadsheet recently posted and some more careful leg work. His house is within a stone's throw of the exchange and we'd wondered if he'd get FTTC or not. But his attenuation is quite high so we didn't think it was a direct line. It turns out that it goes out the exchange, turns right up to the high street, turns right again and along the highstreet, right down a side road, along a snicket, then right again and around the top of his road and down to his house. So geographically it almost describes a loop, about 2km instead of 400m.

Based on that I'm pretty sure he has a cab line so ought to get FTTC later this year.

It's a CSV file. That's text. No way to get malware out of it that I know of smile
