Web Tapestry - What Do We Know About Them?

[link to this post]

They seem to be offering what I consider to be a good deal on their FTTC packages.

I'm wary of signing up to another Entanet reseller. I phoned them and asked who their transit provider was, and they hadn't got a clue what that meant, or what Entanet were. Then they told me that was 'company sensitive' information. I got the guy on the phone to promise that he'd ask his 'manager' and get them to call me back. That was several hours ago, and nothing heard back. So far not a good experience at all!

There seems to be very little info about them in terms of reviews or forum discussions.

I really don't want to get trapped into a bad service with a bad company.

Has anyone any experience with them?

Don't know anything about them.

What makes them a good deal? Its 26 quid a month plus you need to pay activation and presumably buy a router to go along with the openreach modem. You can get a better deal from a number of more "established" names.

Unlimited packages, cheaper than IDNET. Unthrottled like that with BT.

Have you reviewed the spreadsheet that I and a number of others cooked up that lists all the options?

They do have a fairly restrictive Fair Use Policy in their conditions but it doesn't mention FTTC. Whether it doesn't apply or just hasn't been updated recently is your guess.

Our Office1000, Office2000 and OfficeMax broadband services all have unlimited downloads and no bandwidth throttling, capping or other traffic shaping will be imposed.

This is right out of their FUP.

The FTTC offering I am looking at comes under OfficeMax. But I suppose it could be said that they can do whatever they like at any time.

You already do. Listen to your inner voice and move on.

I did some checking a couple of months ago, the company has been going since 1999.

Its supposed to be 24/7 service but its far from that. If phoning, do so on weekday mornings only or you will get no further than the switchboard, same with Bank Holls no service just switchboard and promise to call back which never happens.
Email service is a lot better, same day.

Reported a problem yesterday, bet they wont look at it until Monday.

I have been through the online contract and cant see any where it states 12 months since i paid the install! Therefore 1 month notice.

In all fairness they did get BT to sort a problem last week, but it returned again yesterday.
At the time there was only 4 ISP coming in at sub £30 p/m and two offering unlimited off peak downloads.

After the saga with ADSL24 failing to submit the order to BT for 10 working days with provisional install 7 to 21 days after, i pulled out didnt deserve my custom. Webtapestry got me installed 5 days later but issued 4 wrong passwords and an extension to the login costing me 18 days and loss of income. Would have been ok if i had an internet connection and going in to my control panel.

The only other one i would have gone with was Fast4 but with capped limits.
Forget BT 18 month contract and trouble getting away from them at the end, you have to have phone line and calls with them so costing more than shopping around, as told the 2nd Openreach installer who hadnt much of a clue "You need a fibre router" there was two in front of him.

Just waiting for the day O2/BE offer FTTC.
