Look at the latency on your BQM last night and now.

Congestion somewhere. Or did you have a machine doing something heavy at the same time as the speed test?

Are you on Plusnet? Web traffic is "shaped" in the evening to 20Mb max, unless you have the Pro add-on.

Can see by profile that he is Plusnet.

Help site has details on the traffic shaping as well as a nice wee tool on usertools to show the limits;

I have a similar problem and think my issue is congestion at local exchange or routing.

Except mines a lot worse at sporadic times of the day even down to 0.6meg before 9am. BT have put it right twice in as many weeks, last time was Friday and gone again today.

I thought they had to supply you with a minimum of 12meg download speed.

I think OR "guarantee" it between the cabinet and you if you are on the 15Mbps estimate or higher product. What the individual ISP supplies works just like it did on ADSLx - some are good, some are bad. If only 0.6Mbps gets from the ISP to the exchange >> cabinet, 0.6Mbps is what you get.

I don't remember you giving us a speedtest.net banner result, which may show who your ISP is, underlying WebTapestry?

Thanks Robert i'll do better than that and sorry for the hijack but could be a related issue?

I do expect it to fluctuate, 37 to 20+ meg down would be tolerable.

Shame - it doesn't. The IP address is Axamba t/a WebTapestry, which doesn't help at all. Almost implies a normal BT Wholesale connection to their own routers. I thought they were purely resellers.

Can't think of why it should drop to 0.6Mbps sorry frown. When you say BT fixed it, what happened?
