Business Infinity - Can it go faster?

[link to this post]

Had BT business infinity installed on Tuesday.

According to google, I'm about 0.4 miles from my cab (cab found via pcp to postcode spreadsheets)

BT speed test says I'm pulling 32010 Kbps down on a 34707 Kbps IP Profile.

Giganews hits 35.9 Mbps max.

Is it worth rebooting the modem to try and eeek more out, or is there no point?

Is the 32010 my max speed, or the max speed possible on that profile?

Just asking as I've read others about the same distance from the cab have ~38

Cheers

BT Infinity for Business
5x Static IP and unlimited traffic
Down = 33.59 Mb/s
Up = 8.32 Mb/s
Ping = 12 ms

BOOM!!

I'm about 600m from the cab (550 by my estimate, 600-650 according to the test at installation). That gave me a 38717 profile for first 2 days, but reduced to around 34800 by DLM due to packet loss problems. Original estimate was 30.1. On the 34800 profile, I can get around 33.7Mbps from speedtest.net consistently.

Rebooting has never given me any significant change, whether during the day or overnight.

Leaving stable (for weeks) has never given me any significant change either.

The best consensus I've seen is that keeping stable & running is the thing needed to trigger any speed changes, not a reboot.

Thanks

Considering i was quoted 27.5 down and 5.5 up I'm over the moon. However, as someone who tweaked the ass out of his SNR margin on my old ADSL setup, I can't help thinking there's potential to go faster smile

I'm contemplating the Billion 8200N for exactly those reasons.

If you were quoted a slower speed on broadly the same distance, perhaps you have aluminium lines. Or maybe the cable doesn't go where you think...

Winds me up not being able to see the stats grrrrrrr

I've sent the engineer who installed it a text message asking for my line stats. I hope he responds and I know it's a bit cheeky, but I DID make him a coffee when he was round installing it smile
