Changing cabinet

[link to this post]

Hi,

Does anyone know if changing what cabinet I'm connected to is possible.
I currently get about 1.75Mb/s through ADSL2. My exchange (St Albans) has been FTTC enabled for a while now but my cab hasn't been enabled and dosn't have a date. There are two cabs that have been enabled that my line must pass by. See map attached. I'm located where the A marker is, my cab is the one at the top left the other two orange dots are FTTC enabled cabs.

Cab Map

Who would I contact to ask for a move (if one is possible) assuming its not cost prohitive, I wouldn't mind ordering a new line assuming I could be assured that it would be connected to an upgraded cab.

Any thoughts.

Thanks in advance

Joe

You seem to have duplicated this and the post 'Change Cabinet'.

Try BT Sales (if you can find the right number to phone and you like Hold Music).

Others would be interested in the outcome.

Generally speaking this is not possible. Only in very bizarre circumstances that it is, like exchange closure etc. Usually the copper network is not built to allow it, physically the cables from your house, via a DP only go to one "PCP". I assume you are looking to get some FTTC

Yes it is possible - but will require you to move house.

Apart from that it is extremely unlikely and if they did, the bill to you would be phenomenal.

You are correct I did mean I'm on cab 44 not 40.

The two closer cabs are 127 and 126. They are new(ish) developments near them.
