PlusNet FTTC

[link to this post]

Just ordered Plusnet FTTC, Very happy the date for my cabinet has changed so often, I hope its been worth the wait! The estimated speed is 11.4, any ideas how much better than this it could be, as I know the BT checker gives very low estimates! Plus its a new ish estate so the line should be good quality! Anyway 11.4 is so much better than the 1.3 we get with SKY!

Hi,

Lots of people have posted estimate vs actual figures in this forum. Mine was a similar estimate to yours, when I went live I got 32 Mbps, it's been down to 20, now back up to 26. Am about 950 metres away from my PCP. My estate is 10 years old, so similar to you I think the line quality is pretty good (all underground).

Mike.

I would be very happy with 20+ the cables are all underground here, its around 800m or so the cabinet. Are you happy with Plus net Mike?

I'm about 900 meters from the cab, and my estate is 10 years old I was told I would get 8mb. But I ge a solid 27mb so I'm really happy with mine.

James, yes happy with them (been with them 4 months now on Value Fibre package with PRO add-on).

I've raised a few tickets and has good responses from them.

The FTTC instal hasn't gone well, basicly it hasn't worked. I have called Plusnet more times than I care to count...Apparently there is a fault, but I think the OR engineer did something wrong I know he connected the wrong telephone number to us @ 1 point and had to go back and change it..The engineer left knowing I couldn't load any web pages! Anyways OR are comming back tomorrow to sort it! Ohh and a nice message if its an internal fault you will be charged! Not a happy FTTC customer so far! The good news that the modem did sync at 31meg apparently ! I don't think its PlusNet fault but If I never have to phone them again it will be to soon! Next update 2morrow smile

Could be a different cabinet

Initially ours was something like 16mbit and we got 27mbit. Gradually it's decreased but seems settled at about 23mbit

BT Infinity 8th July 2010
(NIBA)
600m (approx) to cabinet
23.5mbit down / 8mbit up
