Router Configuration

[link to this post]

My cabinet has finally gone live after a delay of over 12 months, which I know is fairly common.

I've arranged an Infinity installation for next week and plan to use my own router with the Openreach modem. I just have a couple of questions that I hope someone on here can help with.

Firstly, is it necessary to enter a username and password in to the router or is this already set up in the modem? My current ADSL modem has the username and password set up within the modem and therefore the router is set up with the no username and password option set.

The second question is related to IP addresses. Does the modem allocate an IP address to the router (via its WAN port) and if so, what IP address does it allocate? Is it the external WAN address or does it allocate a private address?

Thanks for any info!
