[link to this post]

Hi all,

Hi there,

i was activated today with infinity, ant trying to use my existing router netgear wndr3700,

can someone please share with me what settings are you currently using to get it connected to the bt infinity modem ?

i have tried the above so far but still cannot get it online,

connection type:PPPoE,
username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com ,
password: 1234, blank, or password ?
service name: empty ? anything else i have missed ??

everything else is on auto, i have set the router to factory settings and is still the same.

running on latest official firmware..

ps: router is fine on virgin cable dhcp connection. and tried my next doors neighbour linksys e4200 on pppoe, username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com ,password: 1234 and it connected fine...

thanks in advance,
jon

Saw a post somewhere where the password was a single space " ". But then there are others that state it can be anything.

Google seach on "wndr3700 fttc" gives lots of hits for users in forums getting it working, would be worth having a look.

No password required, but your router might require 'something' in the password entry. Also worth trying hubuser@btbroadband.com as this is the username held within the HH3.
Does the Netgear have any entry fields for VLAN or similar, if so 101 might be worth a go.
I presume that it all works OK if the HH3 is used ?

thanks for your replies,

after several testings, i performed the 30-30-30 factory reset on my 3700,

after that all i had to do was select connection type:PPPoE,
username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com ,
password: password

that did the trick.

very happy with my connection at the moment.

and getting a constant ping of 7 ms to bbc.co.uk.

hope it stays like this. smile

I take it you live close to London?

Also update the firmware on that 3700 (new one out) made my wireless whole lot better and overall router performance better.

Also set the wireless to "Mexico" bit naughty I know but increases wireless signal by a good margin.

Wow! - are you able to post a traceroute to bbc.co.uk?

I get about 19s to bbc.co.uk from BT Infinity in the North East.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi,

Interesting, thanks.

I too have 12 hops - the first 6 (ip's) are similar but different and the last 6 are the same.

For me though, it's 11ms to hop 6 and 19 to bbc.co.uk - obviously due to the trip down the country!

If you auto search via the webadmin on the router it wont find the update, go direct to the netgear website and download direct.
