BTOR are a tease!

[link to this post]

Why do BT OR tease me so much hehe, I have been waiting for FTTX to come to where I live since this time last year when they announced the plans.

New cabinet has been in since August and as far as I know its got power and ready to go, road has been dug up twice and no one has been back to the cabinet since the end of September.

I check today and there is some new news that's been posted, so I read it and it says parts of the town are now live but not the part where i live, arggg.

Hope I get to order very soon, the anticipation is killing me!

Just checked my number on the checker and its now saying:

Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 7th December 2011. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 30.7Mbps and upstream line speed of 12.6Mbps.

I wonder if it will really be enabled tomorrow blush if so then that's fantastic news.

That's a specific date so sounds good - usually the checkers show the last day of a month/quarter to 31st Dec 2011 would be the placeholder, if it's moved from that to 7th then it looks like it's game on!!

Thanks for the link but I don't think their is a package out their for me just yet thats in my price range anyway.

So after all that anticipation it looks like I might be sticking with Sky LLU as I cant justify paying £50+ a month, then a connection fee and having to buy a new router on top as well. Moving to BT is tempting but they are to much of a risk if things go wrong.

Plus being held to silly usage caps and traffic management restrictions, kinda defeats the point of having a faster connection in my opinion.

Plusnet isn't too bad a deal if you take the Pro option.

How much download do you actually need, especially with a large or unlimited overnight allowance? ADSL24, Aquiss, vivaciti and xilo/uno spring to mind.

I went with BT Infinity on price, I have option 2 which has no limit and so far only P2P is traffic managed but since I don't use P2P i didn't care. I am fully aware that their customer service is pants, so I hope I'll never need it.
