BT Infinity Draytek 2750n Connection Issues

[link to this post]

Guys,

After searching the forums I chose to purchase a Draytek 2750n from BB for a replacement for my BT Infinity kit, however for the life of me I cant get the Draytek to connect to Infinity; I've followed the below guide and have had no luck;

http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb/kb_vigor_v2750_s...

I've tried all password variations now with no success;

bthomehub@btinternet.com
" "
bthomehub@btbroadband.com
" "
<email_address>@btinternet.com

I have the VLAN configured as 101 on the Multi Vlan setup, I've even gone up to firmware 1.52 Beta and no success..

I did notice that the Draytek time was set to 1970!! could this be the issue?

Infinity was recently placed live in my area with one of the smaller slimline cabs, is there anyway that the cab can only be accepting connections from the Openreach Modem? Can any BT forum guys advise?

Can anyone share any experiences they've had, I'm at a loss and dont want to return the modem

Cheers,

I bought the Draytek Vigor 2750N a few months ago and got it set up with no problems using the guide on Drayteks' site you link to.
The login details used:
bthomehub @btbroadband.com
Some sites suggest that no password is reqd but I used 12345 as the password as it didn't seem to connect (but maybe I didn't give it enough time)
It works perfectly except for the 1st couple of months would not connect at more than 35mb.
(I'm about 700mtrs from the cabinet)
But suddenly about a month ago it shot up to 39925 and 9999 when BT changed the ADSL2 profile to 17a.
Hopefully you can sort it out as its well worth it

Don't worry about the date and time - that will get set correctly when when your modem/router are correctly talking to BT's systems.

As far as I can see the guide you are using is good - my login details use the format bthomehub@btbroadband.com.

Can you post any extracts from the system log - found in Diagnostics/System Log ?

What service - Residential/Consumer or Business?

If it is Business then the user name will be of the form john.smith@hg99.btclick.com

Or why not put the BT equipment back in place and check to see what that uses.

This isn't in answer to Stuart's query, but it seems that Draytek is using unlicensed software in the firmware of these devices.

An examination of the firmware images for the Vigor 27xx VDSL2 modems reveals GPL-licensed software.

Draytek should play fair and abide by the conditions under which that third party software was released.

On a technical note, the Draytek 27xx devices are powered by an identical Broadcom chipset to the Openreach/Huawei HG612. That chipset is the BCM6368.

Since the 6368 is a highly integrated System-on-Chip, requiring very few external components, the performance of all modems based on the 6368 chipset is likely to be identical.

Those purchasing a Draytek are likely to be disappointed if they are expecting an improved connection.

cheers, a

Is this the GPL'd source code used in the Draytek firmware?

Hi amphion. Thank you. That does look like it. Oops! My apologies to Draytek!

I installed a 2750n this morning and had the same trouble connecting using the bthomehub@btbroadband.com username with no password. I then tried my pre-infinity broadband username/password and it connected straight away.

IIRC from reading other peoples experience with the 2750n, it won't connect if the password feild is empty, entering a single character is enough.
