With difficulty.

Probably the best bet is to ask an Openreach engineer nearby, but other than that there is little that can be done without access to BT's backend systems, and knowing your phone number. Perhaps an ISP could do it.

I guess the important question is whether you are on 8 or 22, rather than a direct exchange line. If you put your phone number into this link, does it come back with any information about fibre (even if it is prefixed with a future date)?

I don't have a BT line at the minute, im with Virgin Media. I have seen two cabs locally that have been upgraded to FTTC, I'm hoping I'm connected to one of them, although chances are I'm not

Ah - that's a bit harder then. Even an ISP might have problems there!

Do you actually have a BT wire coming into the house? If so, it might be just "stopped" and might be worth trying to plug a phone in to check for dialtone. If you can get dialtone, 17070 will tell you the phone number.

Otherwise you might want to try the phone numbers for your neighbours wink

We have a by wire, but the builders cut off off our master socket, so we don't have one anymore. However, we don't pay any by line rental so I'm sure the line is dead
