According to this:
http://fttc-check.alc.im/results.php?postcode=NE616TE

Over 60% of lines in my area are potentially direct to the exchange?

Certainly, I had an issue lately where my phone line went down entirely - but none of my neighbours had the same problem - and this was resolved by OpenReach fixing some line problems at a roundabout about half a mile away.

Starting to wonder if I might, unknowingly, have a direct line to the exchange - any way I can find out?

The BT Wholesale checker HERE with your telephone number should tell you.

If it says that FTTC "should" become available you "ought" to be OK. If there is no mention you are probably on the EO line with is obviously "unfortunately" and there is no sign of OR coming up with an alternative.

Since the Morpeth exchange has been enabled for some time Pegswood can be enabled "an any time" once they have put the fibres in (and they may already be there) whereas in Ashington we are still waiting!

Ashington wasnt in the list of exchanges enabled today on the OpenReach Twitter feed - there were ony two. I assume the bank holiday next week won't help eitherfrown

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload,
Moved house, now BE Unlimited 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
FTTC Cab installation commenced 12th April - expect full 80 / 20 - bye bye BE, hello BT Infinity soon!

Just checked my post code, NE61 6TT - Pegswood and it says

Cabinet Probability Uplift Phase Status Type
P27 100% 16.41 8a Part of deployment FTTC (Fiber to the Cabinet)

So it looks like Pegswood is getting fibre (probability 100%) new cabinets are appearing, ours has gone in our estate, but its not humming yet so it's not active!

Where abouts in Pegswood? I'm in Brocskburn Park, and hoping very much for fttc. Samknows says yes, BT checkers say the paltry 1Mbps I'm getting now, and talktalk say July.

Is there a better checker out there. We all know, the best checker is the one that gives the answer we hope for smile

Hi mate, I'm in the estate opposite the co-op, bamburgh drive. Theres a neww fttc cabinet gone in there, just beside the old one, getting on for about 2 months ago. Still not on yet! BT checker says FTTC is not available yet, same as sam says however my current BB supplier TalkTalk tell me superfast Fibre will be available in June 2012!!!! Who to believe? try their checker and it may give you some extra info - is it reliable though?

Since Pegswood is on the Morpeth exchange which has been active for some time Samknows is no help.

Use the BT ASDL Checker if you have a voice line which is not unbundled (SKY or TakTalk) to find details. If you have SKY or TT then use Postcode and house number or better a neighbours number in the same postcode.

The dates are not reliable - normally says 30th June and if not done by then goes to 30th September!

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload ON THE LINE THAT SKY COULD ONLY PROVIDE 15,255 DOWN AND 800 UP ON!!!,

Hm. I wonder where my cab is? According to the checker, its 51% possible to be one, or 49% possible to be another, both scheduled for FTTC, but I haven't spotted anything. Must have a closer look.

If your post code is served by two CABs then there is no straightforward way to find out which one serves you unless there is an obvious division in the post code area - maybe two sides of main road crossing?

PCP spotting is getting to be something of a national pastime these days!

If you have a copy of the Post Code to PCP mapping spreadsheet you can produce a map using Google maps and one of the map producing sites to plot all of the post codes covered by the two PCPs. This may give an idea of where to look for the PCP.

It is easir when you havent got Virgin Cable cluttering up the streets!
