FTTC Cabinet Finally Installed (NDSHE-P27)

[link to this post]

Hi All,

I came home 2 weeks ago to find a brand new FTTC installation pretty much outside my front door, SamKnows suggests a 01/06/2012 go live date? Is this likely to be correct as when driving around I have spotted atleast half of the proposed sites all ready have the cabinets fitted.

My post code is ME12 2AF should it matter.

Thanks all,

Kevin.

Samknows gives dates for the exchange go-live for FTTC, not individual cabinets.

The only guide is the BT Wholesale ADSL checker. If you input your telephone number to that it should tell you a ready date for your Cab (or not - it quite often seems not to know!).

Has the electrical supply been fitted and the FTTC Cab connected to the existing one? It can be many, many months fronm the Cab being installed to it going live.

The BT Wholesale checker reports my cab as active if I put in my postcode, but nothing if I use my phone number! frown

Ignore checking by postcode as this is not accurate and will always show FTTC as being available if its "planned" for your area.

Always keep tabs on the checkr for your line number instead.

Yep, real phone number will show when cabs are taking orders.

E.g. post code checker says Mar-12 for SMCO, however i put my number in and orders can be taken.

So best to check periodically to see if things change.

Where we were there a plethora of Openreach vans for 3-4 days connecting up fibre and fiddling inside the cabs a week before things went live. Unfortunately, a cab can be powered and installed well before this event takes place, 3 months for us.

How long after did BT start appearing at the FTTC once the power was connected up to it?

~3 months from install to going live.
Cabinet installed in mid-October with a Dec-11 RFS, which fell back to Mar12.
A little over a week ago a lot of activity with BT opening all the ducts in the vicinity.
I counted best part of a dozen vans in a half mile radius. continuous activity for 3-4 days, with some well into the night (usually fiddling with cabs).
No drop off on the checker simply went from RFS Mar12 to taking orders.

Did the BT activity show up on either ELGIN or londonworks.gov.uk?

Only the install planning notification.
It's a village just outside Oxford, so SODC.
Nothing else.
