Fibre Availability Checker

[link to this post]

I was quite surprised while I was researching fibre availability at the lack of a tool that can analyse the leaked cabinet documents and bring into the equation data from other tools such as the BTw checker.

To address this, I've been working on a little site which does exactly that. However as there are so many combinations of different numbers of cabinets, exchange only lines and so on, testing every combination myself is difficult. So I'd appreciate any feedback and screenshots of combinations that don't work or give incorrect data.

Is this tool useful? And also are BT likely to get mad about a tool like this? (I'm not planning on doing anything with it other than it being a tool to help people)

Site here: here.

P.S: I don't think it will work fully for full LLU lines as they don't show up on the checker do they?

P.P.S: There's no fancy GUI yet (and there may not ever be). And I'm not storing any data you enter. If you want proof you can see the source code smile

Thanks smile

Well this is what it says about my line, which ties in to what I've found out so far on another thread http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/f/4100383-fib...

Data found:

Exchange: Rossington

Recorded Line Length: 0m
Estimated Attenuation: 0dB

You are connected to one of the following:
Cabinet 3 which is currently planned to receive FTTC (8% of lines)
Cabinet 5 which is currently planned to receive FTTC (90% of lines)
Directly to the exchange. Exchange Only lines are currently unable to receive Fibre technology. (2% of lines)

Our check shows that you cannot currently order FTTC.

No speed estimate is currently avaiable for your line.

Once BT know about you're site and tool, you will be told to take it down as no other site since the ISP Eclipse has showed the cabinet data since.

ditto here

Data found:

Exchange: Madingley

Recorded Line Length: 3447m
Estimated Attenuation: 48dB

No fibre services are currently planned for this exchange.

FTTC services for two of the villages on the exchange are due to go live end of March, even the Samknows link provided shows that! FTTP provision for the other village in a few months time.

I won't take it any further then if it'll only end badly.

Re-inventing the wheel?

Just trying to make the wheel a little easier to use smile Not everyone is able to read a PCP to Postcode file and understand it.

@Magicuk27

If you re-run the checker it should now show you a (provisional) date smile
