Question about SamKnows and FTTC availability

[link to this post]

I'm Sudbury, Suffolk and when I do a check on SamKnows it says FTTC should be available at 01/03/2012, but when check on a ISP site say BT it doesn't seem available.

The most useful checker is this one, but don't use the pure postcode option.

Problem is, we will be moving house shortly and we will be taking the telephone number with us. But thanks anyway.

Do you know the current telephone number at the new place?

The address option is usually OK as well. The postcode one doesn't show anything to do with FTTx.

Google the dial code and the street name of where you are moving too, chances are you'll turn up a neighbour and you can check that. Remember that sam knows only talks about exchanges and an exchange can be ready for FTTC a long time before your cabinet arrives and gets power, fibre, commissioned etc.

If, as you say, you are taking the telephone number with you then you are staying on the same exchange.

If your current line gives a date from the BTW checker use the address checker (NOT the postode checker) and it should give you a good idea.

SamKnows just uses the exchange whch is near usless unless you are an area of an exchange having FTTC put in. Its been saysing it was being installed for my area for months but no it isn'rt just the town.

openreach checker doesnt mention FTTP for me on both postcode and address, I tried a few random phone numbers of my street and they all said not recognised so I assume they all VM cable lines. frown

The exchange does have a sept 2012 date tho.

Just checked samknows tonight and looks like fttc at the new house won't be available until 30/06. Oh well, good things come to those who wait.

?
What's that got to do with what I said to the OP, or to the OP's question?
