FTTC DLM after No Dial Tone Fault

[link to this post]

I had a line fault yesterday which resulted in No Dial Tone.

During this my Max Attainable rate on the modem fell from 100mb+ down to 40ish.

The PSTN fault is now resolved and the modem stats are below: Anyone know how long before it will creep upto full sync?

Guessing nobody knows how long it takes to move back up? Wasn't it like 72hrs with ADSL that the IP Profile would creep back up?

Up to 5 days on ADSL (Max) but much quicker on ADSL2+ and FTTC.

54000 looks like DLM has capped your sync speed due to the "fault".

What sync speeds were you achieving previously?

DLM can be re-set, but currently it requires an engineer to be present at the master socket (no doubt so he can check the resulting sync speed).

Sometimes DLM can "stick" indefinitely.

If it hasn't improved within a few days, I would request your ISP to arrange an engineer visit, specifically to arrange re-setting a "stuck" DLM sync profile.

You could try rebooting the modem (once) which might force a re-sync at a higher speed.
Your SNRM suggests you should be able to achieve a somewhat higher speed (possibly the full 80Mb).

Used to always get the full 40mb, and attainable was always around the 100mb mark.

Lost dial tone on Friday, realised that my attainable rate had went down to 45Mb, and my sync was around 41mb. Engineer sorted the PSTN issue then Saturday morning.

Attainable rate is back to where it was but yeah looks like DLM has frozen me at 54,000kbps.

I'll give ie 72hrs. - might just email a few contacts in BT, their call centre staff are impossible to talk to.

54000 kbps = 54 Mb.

Are you on the 80/20 service (maybe even as a trialist)?

Must be. He has 20Mbps upstream sync.

I suggest a 1-minute turnoff of the modem, not a simple re-sync.

I moved onto it as soon as it was released from BT Retail.... It was when the phone line when dead and problem started.

You say your sync speed went down to 45Mb, yet you aslo mentioned it was always 40Mb.

What is the highest sync speed you have achieved?
More than 54Mb?

I was on 40/10, always got full sync 39999kbps 9999kbps

When i got moved onto 80/20 product I noticed i was only getting 41meg on speedtests.

Looked at the modem, which showed: http://i44.tinypic.com/xfcocp.png

As you can see the attainable rate dropped right down etc.

Now the line is fixed, the attainable rate has went back to over 100mb, but the sync is 'stuck' at 54Mb... Just wondering if it usuallly unsticks easy enough or will i expect having a nightmare sorting it
