Another will i get fibre thread

[link to this post]

This morning i had an openreach engineer install a phone line for me. In conversation with the engineer i mentioned that an FTTC cab should be being installed in the coming months. If i search under my postcode it comes back as saying FTTC will be available from jun onwards depending on when cab is fitted and ready. A quick dig on the local councils website shows that planning permission for the cab was applied for in dec and approved in feb. Yet the engineer said he "very much doubted" that they would fit fibre at that cab. Will the engineer have known anything extra or was he commenting without knowing what would be happening in my area.

Thanks.

"commenting without knowing what would be happening in my area".

Check your postcode with the spreadsheet in my signature.

Its not the latest data, but it might give you an idea.

Change the drop down to POSTCODE, and remove the space in the middle of the post code.

Search where? Openreach site gives a generic response for the whole exchange.

http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/fibre/checker.php will let you know if you are on the older sets of data. There is newer data that has not leaked out publically yet.

Engineers are not privy to secret information, and the decisions will be made by an anonymous person somewhere in the depths of the Openreach bunker

3.28 means they estimate your speed will be 3.28x faster than your current ADSL speed and 8a means its initially planned to rollout by 30th June 2012.

Hi,
Just tried the spreadsheet. My address (MK429GN) is coming up as
Uuplift: 45.62
Phase: 8b
deployed: Yes
FTTP
I don't understand the Deployed field? Does it just mean that the exchange has been upgraded? or Does it mean that it available to me? given that the Phase is 8b which is Sept this year if understand correctly.

Deployed just means it was scheduled at the time of the spreadsheet.

Who ever modded the spreadsheet really should change that column to scheduled.
