Westhoughton FTTC

[link to this post]

Since January 2012 our exchange has had a go live date of June 12. The leaked BT spreadsheet of Dec 11 showed our Cab (25) as being predicted to be 100% covered.

The current Openreach website suggests Westhoughton is now live but the map on the same web page is showing as Coming Soon. Our ISP Plusnet confirms we can't currently get FTTC and I drive past our Cab twice a day and there's no sign of any work.

I don't know of anyone in Westhoughton who has odered FTTC. Emailed ian.livingston@bt.com last night and got a reply which suggested our Cab wasn't in current rollout plans then got another email which suggested end of June 12.

Anyone in Westhoughton on here ordered FTTC ? I think end of June 12 is wrong and I expect the date to be knocked back soon.

Hi, apparently i am on the same cabinet 25 as you down in daisy hill, near eatock way, also waiting for BT infinity, I havent seen any FTTC installed as of yet, wondering when we will start to see them appearing, as can imagine its a fair amount of work to be ready for service by the end of June, they must be going in very soon, well we can hope as that cab provides pretty rubbish broadband speeds haha

Rang BT as I am coming to the end of my contract in July. Apart from trying to get me to renew my contract the lady was not very forthcoming.

Is this Numpty999? I have spoken to a member of BT sales team, they claim they have no information about FTTC rollout plans, could be the reason she didn't seem so forthcoming, I had a look at the PCP to postcode spreadsheet again, it appears that the predicted uplift is high and also quite a few postcodes attached to this cabinet 25, i should think that cabinets with high uplift values would get priority when the work begins as these are the lines suffering the most at the moment, then again, I could be wrong but we can hope smile

Was on my way to work this morning, and seen 2 non BT vans with a reel of fiber optic cable, up near chequerbent roundabout, so have a feeling that progress is taking place even though no FTTC are present yet. Good to see something happen though.

It can take several months for a cab to be comissioned.

The power companies seem to drag their feet over getting the power installed.

Was it the fibre optics themselves or the plastic tube that they are blown through? "Cable" being pushed / pulled through will be the plastic tube.

There was a black tube coming out of a grid and quite a large reel with what looked similar to cling film,'used as an example for its colour and appearance' but assumed it was fiber
