80/20 product speed at 600m from Cabinet?

[link to this post]

After a long initial wait followed by 2 aborted FTTC cabinet installation attempts late last year, my FTTC cabinet has just started taking orders. Infinity 2 is being installed here on Wednesday morning.

The BTW estimate for my line is 49.9Mb down and 10.9Mb up. We are around 600m from the cabinet although I don't know the exact cable route.

We are a long way from the exchange and get a sync of only 1.4Mb on ADSL2+ so this has been a long time coming.

I have seen varying speeds quoted for the 40/10 product from around 25Mb to as high as 37Mb but could anyone who is around 600m from their cabinet with the 80/20 product please share their speeds? I know I only have to wait until Wednesday but thought I would ask anyway smile

Im not with BT im with littlebigone.com on digital region network (South Yorkshire only) but its the same tech as openreach use, Im apparently exactly 588M from the cab cable wise (380m road wise) they did a test to find that out, My current sync speed is 70000/24128 kbps im on LBO super fast product which is basically anything your line can handle (like bt's 80/20 but unlocked so if your like 50m from cab you can get 100+) so if you're 600M id expect at least 60Mb minimum i cant see 12M of cable knocking more than 10meg off you

hope this is some help

speedtest here

Ash

EDIT after looking at other peoples reply's im starting to think DRN use slightly diff tech to OR to enabled faster speeds on longer lines

Or the measurement of 588M for my line is very wrong crazy based on the quote below Proof of Sync

I am around 450 to 500m from my cabinet and the modem gives a figure of 63Mbps ...

So, moving a little further way suggests that the BT estimate could be about right - but it will depend on noise, including cross talk, cable quality, joints cable size &c. You may also find that it syncs quite high to start but gradually drops back a little and that will be as others are installed and the crosstalk noise increase.

If you get 60Mbps - I will be very surprised and even 55Mbps will be a good result.

I'm approximately 600m cable length from the cabinet according to the engineer's JDSU tester, and that agrees with the road measurement. (A clear obvious route).
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 51.7Mbps and upstream line speed of 13.2Mbps.
My unlocked router on a 40Mbps connection shows
Max: Upstream rate = 14345 Kbps, Downstream rate = 57988 Kbps
but I connected about this time of day. IIRC it shows around 59Mbps downstream on a daytime connection.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre.

Thanks to Ash, MHC, Ripley and RobertoS for your updates. It sounds like I should expect roughly what BT have estimated and to avoid crosstalk I shouldn't be telling my neighbours that FTTC is now available tongue. I'll post my speeds here after the installation on Wednesday.
