Migrating fibre to fibre, is there a charge?

Does anyone know if there's a charge incurred by moving from vivaciti fibre to BT infinity? If so would I be better off requesting a line cease?
I would ask vivaciti but they're all in bed

A line cease is a totally different thing, and costs! It would also leave you with no telephone service and no broadband for weeks. I don't think that's what you mean .

An FTTC migration to BT Infinity may involve a migration charge by BT, depending on which package/bundle/deal you go for, but not by vivaciti. Or are you still within contract with vivaciti, which is a different question again?

Don't cease, that will cost you more and give you a week or so downtime.

FTTC to FTTC migration is just a routing change at the exchange, no physical work and no engineer visit.

Openreach charge £50+vat for an FTTC to FTTC migration (expensive as no engineer activity involved) but that is what they charge. From 11th June however we have a special offer which reduces the FTTC to FTTC migration fee to £20+vat, and new FTTC activations or migrations for just £30+vat

I'm on Vivaciti fibre nearly 2 years now, so I'm well out of contract. I think a line cease is out of the question then!
So do I request a MAC like the old days?

Also, just looking at plusnet's phone and fibre package might actually suit me better.

James, to be honest I'm not unhappy with Vivaciti's service, they're great. I'm just trying to get cheap 'n' cheerful (and hopefully reliable) all-in-one package as I'm not as heavy an internet user as I once was.

In fact I would've stayed with adsl24 those 2 years ago if you guys had have been on the ball and believed me there was fibre cabinets in Northern Ireland!

What package are you on? Don't forget PN only have 40/2 officially, though there is an 80/20 trial you might be able to get on. Also when calculating, £50 migration charge is nearly £3pm over the 18-month contract, and they have this traffic management.

I'm on 40/10 at the minute, the BT checker just shows the speeds I'm currently getting so I don't think I can get on the trial. Is there still a migration charge even if I take up their phone package?

Exactly! There seems little point paying for 40/2 (or whatever) fibre when practically everything, on Plusnet, is capped to below 5Mbps!

I have no issues getting whatever the remote site can supply. I don't do P2P though ....

Best thing is to ask. You may get a deal I suppose .
