How to find a cabinet planning application

[link to this post]

Are all replacement/ extra cabinets required to have planning permission, or only in certain areas? I was looking through the Leeds council planning applications to see if there was anything relating to BT, but a) don't really know what I am looking for and b) nothing shows up as BT works in the area. I know of at least one cabinet that has been installed in our LS10 area, but can't see an application for that either.

I did try and ask BT if our cabinet was in any future roll out plans, but got a cut & paste answer that was the FAQs from the BT website frown Far too much "cloak and dagger" over this.

Thanks

Mark

Can you tell me your company's plan for rolling out their new products? Probably not ... as they don't want competitors trying to steal their customers. So why should BT make their commercial decisions public?

No - only certain cabinets require permission, for example in a conservation area or if the cabinet location may interfere with a road junction. Sometimes a planning notice will be lodged (permission is not required - it is simply a notice of intent).

If you post your postcode I am sure that one of the ISP's here will check the latest OR published details for you.

Openreach do not need planning permission for the FTTC cabinets except in conservation areas. They often, (always?), need to notify local authorities about road and pavement works though, for the fibre and power cables. I expect there is some control on the timing of those, but not their happening.

Thanks. The exchange doesn't go live until September and I know we are not due to be included in this stage of the upgrade. Our cabinet wasn't shown on the last "leaked" document", so was going to wait another couple of months before posting the request on here again. I'm thinking of moving, but an upgrade may have changed my mind/ improved my chances of selling.

As Virgin took their cable straight past the end of our main road without stopping nigh on 8 years ago, and they didn't even stop to supply the local estate that is built on fibre (which incidentally isn't in the BT roll out plans either), there aen't many other options open to existing BT customers other than to ask are there?

Replied to my own post by mistake!
This could either be a reshell of the old PCP and additional ductwork, or the actual FTTC cabinet

Looking at Google Maps, there is an existing cabinet there and lots of white arrows marked on the floor. Will venture down there later when walking the dog to take a look. Gutted if it's a fibre cabinet. Wonder If I can rub the markings out and put them on our cabinet instead smile
