Any will work, and you can hack the HG612 to unlock its functionality simply by loading different firmware.

Yes, definitely get the HG612 B. Some people say it even sync's faster.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.0/13.9Mbps @ 600m.

Isn't the ECI modem installed because the cab is an ECI one?
Are you saying that the HG612 syncs better on an ECI cab than an ECI modem?

No, it just depends on what the engineer has in his van
Are you saying that the HG612 syncs better on and ECI can than an ECI modem?
Sometimes, yes.

Sometimes, yes.

They are supposed to match them with whatever is in the street cabinets.

On my line the ECI modem that BT supplied synced at about 64/20 and the Huawei I got of Ebay syncs at 72/20.

Cheers for the info. Do you know what cab type you are connected to.
As mentioned the HG612 is the one to go for if you want to unlock it.
I bought a new one on ebay for £7 delivered as I wanted a spare to 'mess around' with.

It's an ECI cab I'm connected too. Quite useful because the ECI MSAN reports upstream stats as well as downstream whereas the Huawei kit only reports downstream.
