Infinity install - no NTE5 socket

[link to this post]

Hello everyone. My folks are having Infinity installed on Friday but they have a simple brass telephone socket to match the power point near it. Will the engineer bring a new socket to fit or do I need to nip and get one? Thanks guys and girls.

The engineer will fit one.

Brass though? Is it a modern plug goes into it, or is it some antique phone?

Is it the master socket, or is it an extension with the master somewhere else?

Thanks RobertoS. They have a modern phone plugged into it. Probably been there 20 years I would say. Very simple socket inside, not like a master socket. They have the cable coming in from outside split before heading to the brass 'master' socket. Do you think that will have much effect?

The engineer will only install the Infinity connection at the master, unless he also fits the available data extension cable up to 30 metres cable length from that. A standard telephone extension cable will not do.

The engineer also has instructions normally to wall-mount the modem, but can be made not to.

This begins to sound as though the decor may suffer?

I've a pic of the physical box that gets installed on this page.

Power sockets for both the modem and the Home Hub will be needed. I run mine, plus a lot more gear, on three 4-way multi-socket strips at the end of a trailing lead LOL.
Edit - typo.

The decor may suffer as the wall is tiled and I doubt a master socket would fit into the cutout that the current socket fits into. If the engineer just hooks it all up we can screw the modem and new sockets onto the wall.
