Accuracy of checker

[link to this post]

The BT checker says that my estimated speed is 60mb, even though the cabinet is right outside my bedroom window..

so, is there a chance here that i'm connected to a different cabinet. (would be mad)

or, is the checker just. meh?

But what route does your line take?

It could leave the cabinet in a duct to a pole 100-200 metres away and then return to you from pole to pole to pole to house. There are a couple of houses here like that; directly opposite the cabinet but have 300m long lines.

Moradin you can find your cabinet number here, then just have a walk around until you find it.

I know where my cabinet is - it would be more useful if you replied to the OP.

I know you do, but I gave the link for Moradin to confirm which cabinet he is connected to.

Calm down smile

In the bigger picture it does not matter.

Lots of people just hit any reply button they can find - especially on the bottom post when displayed "flat".

There are plenty of boards that only have flat threads, and a single reply link. People used to that style almost-inevitably hit reply at the bottom.

It does for people who opt for email notification of replies to their posts. It means the right person doesn't get the email, and the one replied to gets junk mail.

Why, because of the unusual way these forums work, and you can't expect everybody to know they are not like the majority of other forums.

Edit: Is it possible to get an email when anybody replies to a thread, rather than one of your specific posts?
