Cabinet Information

[link to this post]

I've been trying to find information on when I might likely be able to order a FTTC product. At the moment I am with Talk Talk only getting 3.5MB ADSL frown I'm on the Aberdeen Balgownie (NSBLG) exchange, postcode AB22 8FG.

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NSBLG says FTTC Status is "Available in some areas" How do I know when I might be able to get fibre? BT Infinity estimates 31st December 2012 at the earliest and Talk Talk says "Superfast Fibre Broadband is estimated to become available in your area in January 2013."

Are these dates likely to be accurate?

Both dates are saying the same thing.

The exchange is offering FTTC on some cabinets in the area, they don't enable them all usually, and the ones they do arrive in stages.

The 31st December/Jan 2013 date is a place holder, i.e. they will try to get the cabinet enabled, but no firm date has been set. So DO NOT assume you will have it in January 2013, it may slip to March 2013.

Key is to see what progress is happening to your local cabinet.

Is there away to find out which cabinets might get done and which won't? I did notice some works on a couple cabs near me but not sure if this was anything to do with the fibre deployment.

Some people have PC's located in secure locations that need not worry about deleting cookies.
