Will openreach drill holes to run the data extension kit?

[link to this post]

So I've finally got an install date for Infinity! 8th of Jan, which considering it was ordered today I'm quite impressed with. My only concern is that my master socket is near my front door, at the end of corridor and about 5 meters and another door away from where I'd like the modem and router to be. Will Openreach use the data extension kit to put the modem where I want it to be or where is most convenient for the engineer? It would involve a bit of drilling to run the cables to where I'd like them so would they do this?

Yes, they should. Be firm with the installer, telling them exactly where you want it. If it's an Openreach bod, there should be no issue, if you get a Kellys or Quinns contractor, then you may have to be a little more strident.

Zarjaz has given a good answer, but there is nothing to stop you doing them if you want them positioned "exactly".

I have found that doing them myself can be easier especially if te route is going to require some "difficult" holes.
