FTTC cabinet query

[link to this post]

I am getting a speed estimate of upto 34 mbps now.
What does the maximum speed of connections from a cabinet depend on?

Is there chance it may go up some time soon in the future?
if I take a fibre package with uptu 76 mbps speeds will i get higher speed if the exchange/cabinet is upgraded to a higher speed?

It depends on how many meters away from the cabinet you are.

half way down the page at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/fibre-broadband.... is a table that is fairly pessimistic.

So the cabinet will already be supplying a connection of 80 Mbps, but advertising rules mean that 76 is the figure advertised and those with 100 to 200m of the cabinet may connect at that speed.

thanks...
according to that table it seems i shud be about 600 metres from the cabinet.
i can see 3 cabinets around my area.. dunno which is mine..and i think they are 300 m from house at maximum...its possibly only 200 m even..

hmmm..

http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/fibre/checker.php may reveal your cabinet number, and then you can look at each cabinet to see if the number on it is the one.

As I said the table is a fairly pessmistic chart, most people go faster at the distances mentioned, but better to under estimate. Glass half full versus half empty debate

If you go looking, don't get mixed up with VM cabinets. See these pics.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.0/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

It could be any of the three, the engineer will know which is yours.

Only other way you could work it out was is if only one of the three cabinets is accepting orders, then that one would be yours.

The key to distinguishing the similar-looking cabinets is the door handles and locks.

Apparently the Openreach email enquiry (about delayed cabinets) people do tell you which cabinet you are on and why yours isn't yet connected. I thnk the email address is the one in this post.
