FTTC - Via Telegraph Poles

[link to this post]

Good Afternoon,

I have previously asked this question, but I was hoping for more information. It turns out after a wait that the local exchange will be getting FTTC (it was recently announced), - Cooden Exhange

My question is: How would you get FTTC if your property is served by Telegraph Poles? Here is a map link of our road: Google Map Link

As you can see there are no visible "cabinets" and all the properties bar the small block of flats on the right are connected to Telegraph Poles for their phone/internet.

Is it possible to get FTTC this way? Is anyone currently served by Telegraph Poles who has FTTC?

Also how does it happen?

Thanks in advance.

FTTC is delivered over the existing copper wiring from the cabinet to your property, so it will use the overhead wiring.

I am, no different from underground wires, it's just the route the copper cable takes to the fibre cabinet.

There will almost certainly be cabinets somewhere. If you post your postcode we might be able to tell you its number, and the really hot guys can often find it on google maps. (Edit - I tried TN39 3AD and no cabinet info, but seemingly no FTTC info either. ???)

We have FTTC via a pole. FTTC uses the existing copper between you and the phone cabinet.

Umm - it is possible there is more than one cabinet, perhaps serving different ends. No.14 is on cabinet 7.

http://goo.gl/maps/VLTOb is one cabinet ....

Also, http://goo.gl/maps/7auq8 might be an old cabinet - is there anything on it to suggest who it belongs to?

That one is an old electrical distribution cabinet.

I have checked on the BT DSL Checker with the Address Check and this is what was advised:

Exchange COODEN is served by Cabinet 7.

The link from BT PLC advised Cooden is getting FTTC by 2014 (I know they don't rush things around here anyway).

MHC yes, that's down by the main train station. I'd forgotten about that totally.

So on the basis of that possible being my "nearest" cabinet the FTTC would be fed from the exchange to there and there to me?
