Plusnet speedtest: http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/

[link to this post]

The Plusnet speed tester http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ had problems a bit back which led to them putting a warning on the page:
Sorry - My Broadband Speed is currently experiencing technical difficulty and may display misleading test results. Thanks for bearing with us while we fix things.
That caveat has now been removed so apparently it's fixed (or not!).

Could people give it a go and see how the speeds it reports compare to other testers?

I would suggest still broke...or doing something odd at least.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html...

2088 down from mbbs site
5610 down from speedtest.net
3100 tbbx1
5570 httpx6

The fact the single thread matches the plusnet suggests maybe it is running with single thread option turned on.

Perhaps Plusnet should come and talk to us

My Connection runs at 59.8 - 60.2 Down on TBB with similar results from BT and Speedtest.net reports arround 61 - 62 . Upstream I have a problem at present - should get 18.5 - 19 but for some reason it is down at 16 - 17

On My Broad Band Speed:

Downloads: 6213, 9291, 6062, 8512 They are all over the place and task manager shows the speed going up and down with a graph looking like the Alps!

Uploads: Results are a little more consistent but still variable from 15.2 to 17.5

I would say it is still failing.

When problems emerged some time ago I did suggest that the links in their member centre should be changed to point to your tester.

I believe that the only reason the have it there still is that it is fairly well rated by search engines and they hope it leads to click throughs to their main site.

We don't just do the tester on our own site, there are more options if they want to talk

It is still broken, as I've explained over here.

Thanks Andrew, that's useful to know.

Seriously broken, as confirmed by Bob - gives me a d/l speed of just under 6Mbps compared to just under 67Mbps on speedtest.net and others.
